We purchased this Bosch mini tank in order to have instant hot water at the kitchen sink since our new home with a tankless heater at the opposite far side of the home was taking minutes to deliver hot water. The technical aspects of performing a DIY installation of a mini tank are fairly straightforward. However, locating all of the various fittings and connectors necessary to complete installation was my biggest challenge that caused this project to take weeks. My local hardware and home stores did not have in stock all of the parts that I required. Fortunately, I was able to complete installation in stages without leaving the kitchen sink inoperable each night. Carefully plan your installation and ensure that you have sufficient cabinet space to install the mini tank as well as add an expansion tank (if your closed system does not already have one) to complete the project. Consider how you will need access to the front of the tank to inspect/service the anode annually as well as the possible need to modify or re-route your drain pipe and relocate and/or modify electrical supply circuits to handle the load (if necessary like my job). Make sure that you have all of the right sized supply hoses & connectors on hand before beginning this project. Otherwise, you may be in store for delays and frustrations like I encountered. Most people who purchase this item will likely want to hire a licensed general contractor, plumber or electrician to install since they keep many of the necessary parts on hand in their vehicle.
