Easily installed by my daughter and myself. Make sure you buy the valves with it. It's an indoor unit but we installed it in our water hater closet that opens to the outside of the house. Weather in this part of California is fairly mild with only a few freezes annually but we will install a bare 100W incandescent lightbulb in the closet to prevent any possible damage. (We do the same in our wellhouse.) The hardest part was finding the 3" PVC pipe. Not sure why the fittings are available and the pipe isn't. The instructions for routing the intake and exhaust were a bit confusing but once we figured out they were just saying keep them 4' apart we easily managed it. For the intake, we just elbowed the pipe and left it in the (less than airtight) closet. The exhaust goes up a few feet and out the front wall. Don't give into the temptation to route out the old metal exhaust as the exhaust is acidic. It works great for our household but we haven't tried it with multiple showers, laundry, dishes going as that's not the way we do things. Any one of those activities have plenty of hot water.
