Great Water Heater - Fast Replacement

December 13, 2023Steve · Review provided by supplyhouse.com5/5

After 15 years my Noritz N-069M Tankless heater stopped working. The circuit board failed. I have several of these and rolled the circuit board and it fixed the heater. The only problem was the circuit board. The board has not been available for years. I was forced to replace the heater with a new one. The replacement was the Noritz NR98SV. It was very close to the N-069M, The unit was the same size physically. I was able to use the same mounting screws to fasten it to the wall and the exhaust vent was located in the same location and fit perfectly. The HOT water outlet was within .1 to .2 inches and easily installed. The COLD water outlet was 2½" to the right of the N-069M location and the GAS inlet moved from the back to the front. The GAS line is usually connected with a flexible tube and fairly easy adjust and install. However, the COLD water pipe will require some planning and maybe some new fittings. If you used Webstone isolator valves, you will need to change the rubber washers and clean the fittings. Supply House has those washers for both the large (H-RW40443) and small (H-RW44443) valves. The only other issue was that Noritz re-programmed the recirculation pump system. If you use the timer or other remote switch for the pump, you will need to cycle the ON/OFF switch to make it start again. Noritz must have added a flow test to the pump recirculation system. If the pump doesn't flow immediately, then it disables the pump start until the ON/OFF buttons are cycled to restart the pump function. It works perfectly if you never interrupt the pump circuit. Bonus, the heater is quieter than the other. I am satisfied with the replacement.
