As good or better than my previous tank water heat

I was worried a tankless water heater would be inadequate for our household, but the Rinnai delivers hot water on demand, sufficient for all of us. Installing the recirculating pump was the right decision - hot water is available at any faucet in the house within 0-4 seconds. The only exception is, I think, due to the system's "intelligence". It learns your daily routines and is ready, eg, for the first riser at 5:30 am. But, it can take 1-2 minutes to warm up if you need hot water at an unusual time of day. Also, after lightning storms, the system fails and flashes a "12" error code. It's simple to restart it and it works quickly. But the gas contractor and plumbers both can't figure out why it fails.
