Very disapointed and frustrated
July 24, 2024 — Shopper · Review provided by homedepot.com — 1/5We were very excited to get the Rinnai RE140i to replace an existing tankless water heater. The existing heater had all the correct connections and of very good quality. It seemed like all that needed to be done was to remove the old tank from the wall and install the new one using the existing connections and venting, however when it came time to hook up the venting, it wasn't a standard size and required an adapter. When we went to purchase it we were told it must be Rinnai venting and the entire vent system must be replaced all the way thru the attic to the roof. A Rinnai dealer estimated it would easily cost an additional $450, or more, plus labor to install! Don't understand why the parts needed to be special and were not standard in size. Frankly it seemed like just another way for the company to make more money from the customer. We'll be returning the product to Home Depot where it was purchased. Don't need this frustration.
